By Mushtaque Ahmed | March 18, 2026 (28th Ramadan 1447 AH)
As the holy month of Ramadan 2026 draws to a close, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), chaired by Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, has officially released the standardized rates for Sadaqat-ul-Fitr (Fitrana) and Fidyah. Ensuring these obligations are met before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer is essential for the completion of the fast and the support of the underprivileged.
1. Standardized Fitrana & Fidyah Rates 2026
The Council has calculated the rates based on the current market value of staple food items. While the minimum wheat-based amount is mandatory for all capable Muslims, the CII encourages the affluent to contribute based on higher-value commodities like dates or raisins.
| Commodity Category | Fitrana (Per Person) | 30-Day Fidyah Total |
|---|---|---|
| Govt Subsidized Flour | Rs. 200 | Rs. 6,000 |
| Wheat (Gundum) – Minimum | Rs. 300 | Rs. 9,000 |
| Barley (Jau) | Rs. 1,100 | Rs. 33,000 |
| Dates (Khajoor) | Rs. 1,600 | Rs. 48,000 |
| Raisins (Kishmish) | Rs. 3,800 | Rs. 114,000 |
2. Eid-ul-Fitr 2026: Moon Sighting Prediction
Scientific astronomical data indicates that the Shawwal crescent moon may be difficult to sight on the evening of Thursday, March 19. If the moon is not visible locally, Pakistan will celebrate a 30-day Ramadan.
- Likely Eid Date: Saturday, March 21, 2026.
- Govt Holidays: Friday, March 20 to Monday, March 23 (Expected notification).
