Board Exams 2026: Official Dates Confirmed & New 40% Passing Rule Implemented
LATEST NEWS: Sunday, March 22, 2026 (Eid-ul-Fitr Day 2)
As Eid celebrations wind down, the reality of the 2026 Board Examinations is hitting home for millions of students. With less than 10 days to go for most boards, the 2026 session is unlike any other due to the strict implementation of the IBCC New Grading Policy.
🔴 THE 40% PASSING MARK BOMBSHELL
Starting this year, the passing marks for all Matric (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) subjects have been officially raised from 33% to 40%. Students scoring below 40 marks out of 100 will now be marked as ‘U’ (Ungraded), which is equivalent to a Fail.
1. Provincial Exam Schedules (Confirmed March 2026)
Following the Steering Committee’s final meeting, here are the absolute final dates for the 2026 annual exams. There will be NO further delays despite social media rumors.
| Education Board | Matric (Class 10) | Inter (Class 12) |
|---|---|---|
| Sindh (BSEK/BIEK) | March 31, 2026 | April 15, 2026 |
| Punjab (All BISEs) | March 27, 2026 | April 20, 2026 |
| Federal (FBISE) | March 25, 2026 | April 10, 2026 |
2. Understanding the New 10-Point Grading Scale
The Sindh and Federal governments have abolished the “Marks System.” Your 2026 result will reflect a 10-point scale inspired by the Cambridge O-Level system. This is intended to stop the “Ratta” culture and focus on Student Learning Outcomes (SLO).
96% – 100%
(Extraordinary)
91% – 95%
(Exceptional)
40% – 50%
(Emerging / Pass)
Below 40%
(Ungraded / Fail)
3. The “Conceptual” Fear: SLO-Based Model Papers
Papers in 2026 are 70% conceptual. You will no longer find questions directly from the “Exercises” at the end of the chapters. To pass, you must understand the concepts of Physics and Mathematics.
Pro Tip: Download the 2026 Model Papers from the official board websites (BSEK or BISE Punjab) immediately to see the new question structure.
