1. New Test Date & Official SPSC Notification

The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), headquartered at Thandi Sarak, Hyderabad, has issued a formal administrative notification revising the schedule for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE-2025) Screening Test. The original date of May 30, 2026 has been shifted by exactly one week to Saturday, June 6, 2026.

This is not a cancellation — only a postponement. All other exam conditions, centres, and roll number slips remain valid. The test will be conducted simultaneously across all divisional headquarters of Sindh including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Mirpurkhas.

📌 What This Means For You: You now have 7 extra days. This is not a delay — it is a gift. Candidates who use these days to cover their weakest subject will see a 10–20 mark improvement. Read the 14-day crash plan in Section 7 of this guide.

4. English Preparation Strategy — Score Full 40 Marks

English is the section most candidates underestimate. With the right focused preparation, you can reliably score 32–38 out of 40 marks in English — enough to pass the entire exam on English alone.

Most Repeated English Topics in SPSC Past Papers

1
Synonyms & Antonyms — 10–12 questions every paper Focus on advanced academic vocabulary: obsequious, inveterate, laconic, garrulous, ephemeral, sycophant, prolific, recalcitrant. Use Barron’s 800 High Frequency Words list.
2
Idioms & Phrases — 8–10 questions every paper Learn 50 most common English idioms. Common SPSC past paper idioms: “burn the midnight oil,” “a storm in a teacup,” “kick the bucket,” “the ball is in your court,” “bite the bullet.”
3
Grammar (Tenses & Prepositions) — 8 questions every paper Master all 12 tense forms. Practice preposition rules: “interested in,” “good at,” “responsible for,” “comply with,” “addicted to.” These exact combinations appear repeatedly.
4
Analogies — 5 questions every paper Practice word relationship patterns: Doctor : Hospital :: Teacher : School. Animal sounds: Owl : Hoot, Crow : Caw, Horse : Neigh. Animal groups: Lions : Pride, Wolves : Pack.

5. General Knowledge & Abilities Strategy — Dominate the 160 Marks

This 160-mark section is your biggest opportunity and biggest risk. Candidates who fail almost always score below 40 in this section. Candidates who pass typically score 70–90 here. Here is exactly how to approach each sub-section:

Pakistan Affairs (40 Marks) — Most Important Section

  • Pakistan Movement: Memorize exact dates — 1906 (Muslim League founded), 1940 (Pakistan Resolution), August 14, 1947 (Independence), March 23 (Pakistan Day). These appear in almost every SPSC paper.
  • Constitution 1973: Know the fundamental rights, number of seats in National Assembly (336), Senate seats (100), and the 18th, 25th Amendments.
  • Geography: Longest river (Indus), highest peak (K2 — 8,611m), largest province by area (Balochistan), most populated (Punjab), Sindh’s major cities and rivers.
  • CPEC: Total investment figure ($62 billion), Gwadar port, main routes and projects — this appears in every recent SPSC paper.

Current Affairs (30 Marks) — Read Dawn Daily

The single most effective strategy is reading Dawn newspaper every day for 2 weeks before the exam. Current Affairs questions test the last 12–18 months of events. Focus on: Pakistan–China relations, IMF programme, UN resolutions, Nobel Prize 2025 winners, recent Pakistan PM/President news, and regional elections.

⚡ Current Affairs Hack: Search “Dawn MCQs May 2026” on Google every day. Dozens of websites publish daily Dawn newspaper MCQs — these are exactly the type of questions SPSC asks. 15 minutes of daily MCQ practice from these sources is more valuable than 2 hours of book reading.

Everyday Science (30 Marks) — High Return on Study

Science questions are highly predictable. The same topics appear year after year. Focus 80% of your science study time on: vitamins and their deficiency diseases, planets and their moons, human body systems, common element symbols, and basic physics laws (Newton’s laws, Archimedes’ principle).

Basic Maths (30 Marks) — Do Not Skip This

Many arts-background candidates skip maths and pay heavily. The maths questions are SSC-level (matriculation standard) — not complex. With 3 days of focused practice on percentages, ratio-proportion, and profit-loss, you can reliably score 18–22 out of 30.

6. OMR Sheet Rules — Mistakes That Cause Instant Disqualification

Your OMR answer sheet is processed by machine, not human. The machine cannot forgive errors. These mistakes cause automatic zero marks for that question or full disqualification:

🚫 These Mistakes Will Disqualify You:
  • Marking two bubbles for one question — the machine marks it as wrong, not double-marked
  • Using whitener/correction fluid or eraser — the optical scanner cannot read corrected bubbles
  • Writing your name, CNIC, or any text outside the designated fields — immediate structural disqualification
  • Using a pen that is not blue or black ballpoint — pencil and gel pens are not readable by OMR scanners
  • Leaving the seat number or paper code fields blank — your paper cannot be matched to your registration
✅ OMR Best Practices: Fill bubbles completely and darkly. If you are unsure of an answer — since there is NO negative marking — always fill the bubble with your best guess. A blank bubble earns zero. A guessed bubble has a 25% chance of earning 1 mark. In 200 questions, guessing 20 unknown answers statistically earns you 5 extra marks.
