MDCAT 2026 Sindh: STS Date, Centres & Final Guide

MDCAT 2026 Sindh: Test Date, Centres, Paper Pattern & Score Calculator

Everything a medical aspirant in Sindh actually needs — the schedule, the conducting agency, the 200-MCQ breakdown, the centre situation, and a calculator that tells you where you stand before the merit list does.

MDCAT 2026 Updated: · 14 min read
Short version: 200 MCQs, no negative marking, 55% to qualify for MBBS and 50% for BDS — and Biology alone carries 68 of those marks. Your admission, though, is decided by an aggregate, not by the test score. Use the calculator below before you decide anything.

Test dates, the conducting agency and the final centre list are set by official notification and do change mid-season — sometimes twice. Confirm all three on the PMDC and Sindh admission portals (linked at the end) before booking travel or paying a challan.

MDCAT 2026 test date

MDCAT is held after HSSC Part-II results are announced, and in recent sessions it has landed in the September to November window. The rhythm around it is fairly predictable even when the exact date is not.

  • Registration opens

Roughly four to six weeks before the paper. Portal closes hard — there is no late window.

  • Fee challan & document upload

CNIC or B-Form, SSC and HSSC result cards, photograph, domicile. Scan them now, not on the last night.

  • Admit card / roll number slip

Usually one to two weeks before the test. Your centre is revealed here, not earlier.

  • Test day

Single national syllabus paper, 200 MCQs.

  • Provisional answer key

Within days of the test, with a short objection window.

  • Result

Typically two to three weeks after the paper.

The WhatsApp trap

Every season, screenshots of “confirmed MDCAT dates” circulate weeks before anything official exists, and a fair number are fabricated. If it is not on the official portal, it is not a date — it is a rumour that costs you a week of planning.

STS / Sukkur IBA: what the testing agency actually does

Sukkur IBA Testing Services is one of the main testing bodies operating in Sindh, running entry tests, recruitment tests and scholarship tests for departments and universities across the province, with a centre network that reaches the interior districts as well as Karachi.

Where a testing agency is engaged for MDCAT, it handles the operations, not the policy. Knowing the split saves you from asking the wrong office and losing three days.

Centre allotment & roll number slipsMerit formula and weightages

Rule of thumb: a content question — what is in the syllabus, how many Biology MCQs — goes to PMDC. A process question — my challan will not generate, my name is misspelled, my centre is in the wrong city — goes to the agency helpline printed on the notification.

Never pay outside the portal

Fake registration sites and “guaranteed centre change” agents appear every admission season. No legitimate agency takes money for a centre preference outside its own official portal, and no one can sell you a seat.

MDCAT 2026 paper pattern

PMDC’s single national MDCAT syllabus fixes a 200-MCQ structure. This is the distribution that has been in force in recent sessions:

SubjectMCQsWeightWhat it really tests
Biology6834% Recall plus applied reasoning — the deciding block
Chemistry5427% Concept-driven organic and physical chemistry
Physics5427% Numericals under time pressure
English189% Grammar, sentence correction, vocabulary in context
Logical Reasoning63% Sequences and simple analytical items
Total200100%3 hours 30 minutes

Three things this table is telling you

1. Biology decides your score. Sixty-eight marks in one subject means a weak Biology section cannot be rescued by a strong Physics section. Short on time? Biology takes the first hour of every study day.

2. English and reasoning are free marks. Twenty-four MCQs sit in two sections most candidates never open. They need no lab-level understanding — a few hours of grammar drill and past-paper reasoning items. Skipping them is discarding 12% of the paper.

3. No negative marking means no blanks. A wrong answer costs nothing beyond the mark you were not going to get. Every bubble gets filled before you hand the sheet in.

The 12-mark habit

Guessing blindly on four options returns about 25%. On 24 unattempted MCQs, that is roughly six marks you were about to leave on the table — enough to move you several hundred places on a merit list where candidates are separated by decimal points.

Sindh test centres

Centres in Sindh are normally spread across divisional headquarters so candidates are not forced to cross the province. In past sessions, centres have operated in and around Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Nawabshah (Shaheed Benazirabad), Mirpurkhas, Dadu, Khairpur and Jacobabad, with the heaviest concentration in Karachi.

Exact venue names and addresses arrive with the admit card, never before. Plan around that:

  • Choose your centre city carefully at registration. Changes are rarely granted, and only through the official portal.
  • Do a dry run the day before. Traffic, the correct gate, parking. On exam morning you want zero unknowns.
  • Book travel and rooms early if your centre is in another city — hotels near big centres fill in the final week.
  • Reach the gate well before reporting time. Late entry is refused and no appeal works on the day.
  • Read the venue rules on your slip. Many centres will not store your phone or bag at all.

MDCAT score & aggregate calculator

Your admission is not decided by MDCAT alone. It is an aggregate: your test score, your HSSC result and your SSC result, each carrying a weight set by the admission policy. Enter your marks below to see the number that actually matters.

Aggregate & merit calculator

Weights are editable — merit formulas differ between provinces and can be revised, so set them to match the current prospectus.

Weights add up to 100%.

Unofficial estimate. Some policies deduct marks for subjects repeated in improvement exams, and A-Level candidates are assessed on IBCC equivalence marks. Always check your figure against the official merit formula.

The last 3 days: what actually works

The final three days do not build knowledge. They protect what you already have and get your body onto the right clock. No new topics. No full-syllabus revision — that only convinces you that you know nothing.

Day 3 — seventy-two hours out

  • One full-length mock, in exam conditions, at the same time of day as the real paper.
  • Evening goes to the mistakes only — not re-reading chapters you got right.
  • Write one “weak list”: ten to fifteen items you keep getting wrong. That list is now your entire syllabus.

Day 2 — forty-eight hours out

  • Morning: Biology — diagrams, classification, the high-frequency chapters.
  • Afternoon: Chemistry reactions and Physics formulas, from your own notes only.
  • Evening: one hour of English grammar and reasoning items. Quiet marks live here.
  • Assemble every document tonight so tomorrow has no admin in it.

Day 1 — the day before

  • Light revision of the weak list and your formula sheet. Nothing heavy after midday.
  • Confirm the route, the reporting time, and what you may carry inside.
  • Eat normally. This is not the day to try a new restaurant.
  • Sleep early. A rested brain beats one extra chapter, every single time.
Do not, under any circumstances

Start a new academy test series. Compare mock scores with friends on WhatsApp. Stay up past 1 a.m. “just finishing” a chapter. Each of these has cost more candidates marks than any topic they failed to revise.

Exam day checklist

Carry

  • Original CNIC or B-Form — not a photocopy, unless your slip says otherwise
  • Printed admit card / roll number slip, two copies
  • Passport-size photographs as specified
  • Transparent ballpoint pens, blue or black, at least two
  • A simple wristwatch, if permitted
  • Water in a clear bottle, if the centre allows it

Leave at home

  • Mobile phone and smart watch
  • Calculator and any notes
  • Bags the centre will not store

Inside the hall

  • Check your roll number twice before you begin
  • Fill bubbles completely — a half-filled bubble is a lost mark
  • Answer every single MCQ; there is nothing to lose
  • Keep a hard time budget: roughly one minute per question

What happens after MDCAT?

Handing in the paper is halfway, not the finish. The sequence:

  1. Provisional answer key — published within days. Compare it and record your estimated score.
  2. Objection window — short and formal, through the portal. Social media posts are not objections.
  3. Result — your official score, and whether you crossed 55% for MBBS or 50% for BDS.
  4. Admission applications — a separate process from MDCAT, with its own portal, fee and deadline. Missing it is the most common and most painful mistake candidates make.
  5. Merit lists — usually several rounds. A name absent from the first list often appears on the second or third as seats move.
  6. Verification and joining — originals, domicile, PRC, equivalence certificate where applicable.

And if the score is not what you hoped: Pharm-D, DPT, BS Nursing, Biotechnology, Medical Lab Technology and the allied health sciences absorb strong MDCAT candidates every year, and they are real careers rather than consolation prizes. A second attempt is also legitimate — but it should be a decision made with a plan in October, not a reaction made in the first week of disappointment.

Frequently asked questions

How many marks do I need to pass MDCAT?

Under the PMDC standard, 55% is required for MBBS eligibility and 50% for BDS. Passing is not the same as being admitted — merit in Sindh’s public sector colleges has historically closed far above the passing line.

Is there negative marking in MDCAT?

The standard PMDC format carries no negative marking, so an unanswered question is simply a lost mark. Confirm the rule on the current notification, then leave nothing blank.

Can I change my test centre after registration?

Rarely, and only through the official portal within the window the conducting agency announces. Choose your city carefully at registration instead of counting on a change later.

What is the syllabus for MDCAT 2026?

The PMDC national MDCAT syllabus, built largely on the Class 11 and 12 Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English curriculum. For Sindh students, the Sindh Textbook Board Pre-Medical books cover the large majority of it. Download the official syllabus PDF and tick topics off against it.

Do A-Level students take the same test?

Yes. A-Level candidates sit the same MDCAT and must additionally obtain an IBCC equivalence certificate, whose marks then replace HSSC marks in the merit calculation.

Is my MDCAT score valid for next year?

No. The score applies only to the admission session in which the test was taken. Applying the following year means sitting the test again.

How is the admission aggregate calculated?

By combining weighted percentages from MDCAT, HSSC and SSC. The exact weights are set by the admission policy for that session — use the calculator above with the weights from the current prospectus.

Is a private academy necessary to clear MDCAT?

No. Every mark comes from the published syllabus and past papers. Coaching can supply structure and discipline, but candidates clear this test from home every year with the textbooks and a consistent routine.
